Light
She lay in warm grass
Breasts exposed and free
Learning to be
a beam of light.
She decided to stop trying
to be good enough.
She decided just to feel.
Just to feel like herself.
Just to feel herself.
She blessed the nature
and it blessed her back.
Who knew? She certainly did not
know her own power
to bless and be blessed.
Until then she had only known curses.
But there, in a wood, reclining,
staring up at a canopy of leafy green trees,
she gave up curses and started
learning to be a beam of light.
(This is from some time ago. 2007? 2008? It happened when I was getting my freedom back. I’m feeling a lot like this these days, too.)
Gorgeous! I do love poetry – thank you so much for sharing this lovely piece of yours.
